About ADUG Delphi Jobs Lists
ADUG Delphi Jobs List
The adug-jobs@adug.org.au List is a service to Delphi developers, recruitment
agencies and employers of Delphi people which was established in
July 2000. It is a fee-based service which allows Delphi roles to
be advertised to the ADUG membership and to non-members who have
registered with the service. At April 2011 there were 858 email addresses registered with ADUG Jobs
ADUG Delphi Work Wanted List
The adug-work-wanted@adug.org.au List is the reverse service where programmers with Delphi skills
can announce their availability for new work. We encourage
Delphi developers, recruitment agencies and other employers of Delphi people who might find such emails useful
to join this list. There is no charge to be on the list. ADUG Work Wanted is a new service introduced in June 2011.
Announcing availability for work has a fee. It is expected that the fee will be less for members but non members
are also encouraged to advertise availablity. As an introductory offer the service is free until the size of the list becomes viable.
Placing a job advertisement
We charge $60 to place a single ad which is emailed directly
to each subscriber to DelphiJobs list. The ad can contain as much
or as little detail about the position as you like. It can
contain hyperlinks to your web site for more information, but
must otherwise be in plain text only.
You can place an advertisement online through the ADUG
registration system. Select the registration option "I want to
submit a Delphi job advertisement", then provide your
advertisement and other registration details. Payment can be made
at the time of registration by credit card (preferred). Otherwise
payment can be by EFT or cheque. The list email will generally be sent within 24 hours of payment.
This is a highly targeted form of advertising and has proven
to be one of the most successful ways of recruiting Delphi people
in Australia.

Suggestion on writing an ad to get the best response
The registration system asks for three main pieces of
information specific to the advertisment:
Your email address for people to respond to.
A 10 word subject line. These 10 words will determine whether
or not the body of the ad gets read.
A good subject line would be:
Delphi contract, Melbourne CBD, D6, Oracle &
SOAP
A subject line that will not attract readers would be:
Sensational role with growing international
company
The advertising copy can ideally contain 100-200 words and
will provide information about the position including location
and a description of the technology.
For example:
'Gain experience in Delphi XE writing distributed
systems using DCOM and XML with large corporate based in Sydney
CBD'
is likely to get a good response.
ADUG guarantees to forward the advertisement to registered
users of DelphiJobs list within one business day of accepting the
advertisement copy.
ADUG makes no warranties regarding the number of responses the
advertisements generate, however our experience has been that
most ads will receive a good cross section of candidates and the
majority of roles advertised with ADUG have been filled by one of
the ADUG respondents.
